Chennai. Public sector Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will automate all its petrol pumps by December. The objective of this company's move is to provide the right amount and quality fuel to the customers.
T R Sudernaman, executive director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, said that the company has about 15,000 petrol pumps, of which 9,000 are currently automated. He said that by December we plan to automate all the petrol pumps. By that time all 15,000 petrol pumps of HPCL will be automated.
Sundaraman said that there is not much investment in this. He said that due to the automation of petrol pumps, customers will get fuel in the amount of fuel they will get as much as they have asked for. He claimed that HPCL is the first oil marketing company that started automation system in 2003.
When asked if there will be any sort of withdrawal on the pump pumps, they said, no, no. Because after that the staff will be required to refuel. In response to a question, the official said that the company had started self service system on some petrol pumps in Mumbai but did not get help from this.
Ashok Leyland Managing Director Vinod K Dasari said that 70 percent of commercial vehicles cost on fuel and this co-brand card will save them up to Rs 50,000 a year. Using this card will save them from one and a half to three percent. We are the first company to offer such facility.
